Nice but standard not great
Positive: Location was excellent, however, standards of finishing were a disappointment. Beds very comfy, had the amenities, plates, cutlery, cups, etc.
Negative: Difficult review to write as it might seem a bit of a complaint, and we’re being over fussy, which we really aren’t, but nothing stopped us enjoying our weekend away. Trying to put this into perspective and being constructive and honest. I took photos of everything I’ve mentioned below but haven’t added any into the review, just kept them to show that I’m being truthful, honest and constructive with my comments.
The cottage is very convenient to the village, it’s in a quiet area, has what you need, etc. There were a few issues, nothing, again, I have to add was an inconvenience.
The front door was squeaking, quite noisy, a bit of WD 40 would sort that out.
No door latch on living room door. The inside walls need a lick of paint, a lot of marks on them. Carpet, mainly living room, several marks, rug doctor to freshen up would do the trick. Random screw above curtains sticking out in 2nd bedroom.
Curtain separating porch to lounge, looks out of place, looks like it was just thrown up. Flooring in bathroom off living room, squeaky and a little uneven, the door doesn’t lock and no liquid in the hand dispenser.
Doors, woodwork would have a lovely finish if sanded and varnished.
A couple of the kitchen cupboards could have been done with a clean, internally.
Cobwebs, dust, from ceiling in living room and 2nd bedroom, also a musky smell.
2 chairs on the patio, very shaky, sit on them I’d think they’d break.
The dust on the top of the sky box and other box, I’ve got to say, hasn’t seen a duster in many months.
There is a notice on dining room table with bits of info, at the bottom it says, “enjoy this complimentary gift”. No gift there, a little odd.
I’d love to have a week or so to cover most of the above as I love projects such as these.
I want to make it clear, this didn’t spoil anything for us but paying what we did for 2 nights, you would expect a pretty good to high standard and finish. To sum up, it’s a little run down.
